REALLY!!!!!
This is what the mission of an Airshow is according to Robert Duncan, chairman of the
show’s executive committee.
“Our mission to produce an annual
fundraising event that honors our military, provides a forum for military and civilian flight
demonstrations, and creates an environment for military recruitment was accomplished time and
time again.”
I personally have attended this show several times and wouldn’t miss it for the world. Our Federal Government has their spending so far out of control and can’t settle on a budget, now this. Fire all of them if they can’t settle a budget. Yea that right replace them all. It is time. Any other job ran if you can’t setup a budget you or I would be fired. How about they take a pay-cut. Sorry My Rant..
The letter below was posted on the Indianapolis Air Show
The 2013 Indianapolis Air Show, scheduled for June 15-16 at Indianapolis
Regional Airport near Mt. Comfort, has been cancelled due to the wide-ranging impact of
sequestration.
The decision to cancel was made by the show’s executive committee this week following thorough
deliberation of numerous factors affected by sequestration.
The US Navy Blue Angels had been scheduled to appear as the show’s jet team headliner. Under
sequestration, US military jet teams are grounded until further notice, and additional military support
for air shows is suspended as well.
“Due to budget uncertainties resulting from the threat of sequestration and its impact on military
participation at our show, all of which are beyond our control, we have been forced to make the very
difficult decision to cancel the 2013 Indianapolis Air Show,” said Robert Duncan, chairman of the
show’s executive committee.
Duncan noted that several other air shows throughout the nation also have cancelled their events for
this year, citing sequestration as the reason.
Looking to the future, Duncan said, “Although the 2013 Indianapolis Air Show will not take place,
we will continue to look at ways to reinvigorate the show in order to produce in a future year an
event worthy of the shows presented over the last 16 years.
“We have been very proud to provide 16 years of wholesome, family entertainment while at the
same time educating our attendees about aviation,” he continued. “Our mission to produce an annual
fundraising event that honors our military, provides a forum for military and civilian flight
demonstrations, and creates an environment for military recruitment was accomplished time and
time again.”
The Indianapolis Air Show is produced by hundreds of volunteers from all walks of life, donating
time and talents to build a successful and highly anticipated annual event. Proceeds from the
fundraiser resulted in more than $1.3 million being donated to local philanthropic organizations such
as the Central Indiana Community Foundation.
“Many generous sponsors and local businesses also contributed to helping us achieve the success
we’ve enjoyed over the years,” Duncan added. “And, of course, our fans always have been
tremendously supportive.”
There is also a F16 Viper East and West Demo Team. These teams make or break the shows. Without them there will be far less Air shows. The Indy Air Show is know as one of the best shows around.
